How Do I Know Which Disputes Need Evidence?

Learn how to tell if a dispute needs evidence in Chargeflow using the red dot indicator and the Requires Optimization filter, and how adding extra context can improve your dispute win rate.

Written by Avia Chen

In the Chargeflow Disputes page (https://app.chargeflow.io/disputes), you can tell that a dispute needs evidence in two ways: the red dot indicator and the Requires Optimization filter. You may also receive an email notification when a dispute could benefit from additional evidence, prompting you to upload supporting documents.

The red dot indicator

When a dispute has the red dot:

  • Evidence still needs to be added to the dispute before it is submitted.

  • Chargeflow will automatically add available evidence from your store and connected platforms during response submission.

  • You can upload additional evidence before submission, and Chargeflow will fill in any other missing information it has access to.

The Requires Optimization filter

To see all disputes that need evidence at once:

  1. Go to the Disputes page.

  2. Click Filter.

  3. Click Requires Optimization.

  4. Select Requires Optimization.

The list will show only the disputes that need evidence. To see the ones that don’t, check Does Not Require Optimization instead.

Why this matters

Some disputes are straightforward, but others benefit from extra context. Adding more evidence gives the card scheme stronger reasons to rule in your favor. Examples include:

  • Customer communication (emails, chats, support tickets).

  • Proof of delivery or service usage.

  • Receipts, invoices, or contracts.

  • Screenshots or other relevant documentation.

Your dispute continues processing even if you don’t add anything. Uploading additional evidence is an opportunity to maximize your recovery.

What to do when a dispute requires evidence

  1. Open the dispute in the Chargeflow Disputes page.

  2. Review the evidence already collected by Chargeflow on Take Action > Upload Evidence section.

  3. Upload any additional evidence that could provide stronger proof.

  4. Chargeflow will automatically include it in the case submission.

Key points to remember

  • Always progressing: Chargeflow keeps handling the dispute automatically.

  • Boost recovery: Adding more evidence can increase your win rate and recovered revenue.

  • Integrations help: If you’ve integrated a subscription or customer communication platform with Chargeflow, or provided access to platforms or apps with the needed permissions, Chargeflow will add evidence to your disputes during submission. See Which platforms and integrations do you currently support? for more info.
